@dustcirclenews - Free Documentaries: The Psychology of Control, To the Last Drop, Invisible Threat, Sex for Sale, King Corn, Who Gets the Best Jobs?

If the documentaries aren't visible in your email, follow this link to see them  http://www.dustcircle.com

State of Mind: The Psychology of Control
If you don’t submit to control, if you’re a radical, you’re less likely to be loved. You’re not fitting in with society; you’re viewed as an outsider. There are a lot of social prohibitions about the outsider and the person who’s going to upset things. From the time we’re very young, we’re taught to worship authority, basically, because that’s our key to survival as young children. But as adults, we never go through the rights of passage that tell us how to methodically think for ourselves, and thus we’re always in a state of extended adolescence.

To the Last Drop
Canadian wilderness sits atop what many think is the biggest deposit of oil on the planet. A sea of sand soaked with bitumen – the Tar Sands. The Tar Sands now supply more oil to the United States than any other foreign source. A century of secure energy. Since 9/11, Canada has become the most important supplier of foreign oil to America. It’s a market Canada can’t afford to lose. Even in the heart of the recession, the oil sands were sending in the order of $20 billion a year into the Canadian economy.

Invisible Threat
It’s bad enough to catch a disease naturally but to take a disease and turn it into a weapon, to enhance the disease, to make it more virulent or more contiguous or more resistant to known vaccines it just kind of goes off the charts there. It’s turning Mother Nature against us. Weapons that destroy by spreading deadly diseases have a long and unhappy history. Billions of dollars have been spent by governments to create pathogens that can cause fatal illnesses. Even today some countries are stockpiling just such a deadly arsenal.

Sex for Sale: Prostitution
It’s been called world’s oldest profession yet it’s always been taboo – prostitution. Around the world the sex industry presents many faces. From the violent sex slums of Bangladesh, to the deadly sidewalks of the United States. From the stylish bordellos of Australia, to Europe where the disabled pay for sex, and where man are videotaped in futuristic cyber-brothels. Step into the forbidden world of sex for sale. Those who sell sex, whether male or female, are shunned and labeled as whores or hookers.

King Corn: You Are What You Eat
When Ian Cheney and his best friend Curt Ellis graduated from college they thought they were done with professors and they supposed to feel like they had their whole lives ahead of them, but they just heard some rather disconcerting news. Some day they were going to die, and maybe sooner than they thought. For the first time in American history their generation was at risk of having a shorter lifespan than their parents. And it was because of what they ate.

Who Gets the Best Jobs: Is it all about contacts and money?
Nowadays society in Britain is socially unequal. The gap between the rich and the rest has widened and it will continue to grow bigger. Opportunities for children are limited if you come from a working class family and don´t have “good” contacts. This documentary tries to reveal the barriers which stop people from rising up to the economic ladder.

Counter-Intelligence

It is no secret that CIA is engaged in criminal activities around the world, some of which are quite deadly, some of which are quite provocative in the sense of laying the groundwork for large scale military conflict, and it’s happening in a lot of countries. This is not unique to the United States. The United States learned some of this from the British who learned it in turn during the 19th century when they were a dominant imperial power around the world. They cut their teeth on this stuff.
Part 1: The Company

Part 2: The Deep State

Part 3: The Strategy of Tension

The Video-related content I send out will have a link to the website so you can view the videos, instead of seeing just a list: http://www.dustcircle.com
WAKING THE BRAIN: ADVANCES IN NEUROSCIENCE
In the summer of 2010 Rohan Pais, an amateur long-distance cyclist, was training for a charity ride. His bike collided with a car and he was thrown into a cornfield. His injuries were so severe, that the emergency room doctors told his wife he wasn’t going to make it.

INSIDE THE SAUDI KINGDOM
Lionel Mill’s film has unique access to Prince Saud bin Abdul Mohsen, one of the rulers of the rich, powerful and secretive Saudi royal family.

VOYAGER JOURNEY TO THE STARS
The film examines the great promise of the Voyager mission and where it will lead us in our grand ambition to move out beyond our home planet. The two Voyager spacecraft are part of an ancient quest to push beyond our boundaries… to see what lies beyond the horizon. Now tens of billions of kilometers from Earth, two spacecraft are streaking out into the void. What will we learn about the Galaxy, the Universe, and ourselves from Voyager’s epic Journey to the stars?

FIRST PERSON SHOOTER: ON-BODY POLICE CAMS
Stun-gun company Taser want to make ‘Cops’ on steroids, but who does it serve? The Verge goes in-depth with Taser and the Mesa Police Department, one of the many law agencies testing this new technology.

OBSESSIVES: SODA POP
John Nese is the proprietor of Galcos Soda Pop Stop in LA. His father ran it as a grocery store, and when the time came for John to take charge, he decided to convert it into the ultimate soda-lovers destination.

SEX AND SURVIVAL IN MADAGASCAR
Using undercover filming, this powerful investigation exposes a booming child sex trade. In the hub of Madagascar, one of the world’s poorest countries, prostitution is seen as an unavoidable means of survival.

CLICK, PRINT, GUN – 3D PRINTED GUNS
This is a story about the rapid evolution of a technology that has forced the American legal system to play catch up. Cody Wilson, a 24 year old University of Texas Law student, is an advocate for the open source production of firearms using 3D printing technology. This makes him a highly controversial figure on both sides of the gun control issue. MOTHERBOARD sat down with Cody in Austin, Texas to talk about the constitution, the legal system, and to watch him make and test-fire a 3D-printed gun.

KEYS TO CROWDFUNDING SUCCESS: PITCH, PROACTIVE, AUDIENCE
Get insights how to setup your crowdfunding campaign to reach your goals. Valuable tips from somebody who definately knows this business very well: Danae Ringelmann co-founded Indiegogo to democratize fundraising. She brings entertainment industry and finance expertise, and serves as an Advisor to The Conversation.

GUNS IN THE SUN – FLORIDA, USA
Weeks before the almost unfathomable mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, Rocco Castoro visited Florida to dive headfirst into its byzantine firearms laws and discover why his home state was the first in the nation to issue over one million concealed weapons permits. Through interviews and time on the range with veterans, law enforcement officials, and gun-store owners, VICE digs deep into the gun debate and uncovers many troubling revelations along the way. Oh, we also use a Craigslist-like site to arrange for the purchase of a handgun at 10 PM in the parking lot of a big-box hardware store. And it’s all 100-percent legal. Welcome to Florida.

SURVIVING THE COLD
Valery Malkov made the headlines when he fell out of a train in Siberia in -40 degrees Celsius wearing practically nothing, then ran 30 minutes to the next station and lived to tell the tale. The film explores the way the human body reacts and adapts to cold and meets frost enthusiasts who willingly subject themselves to extreme temperatures.

BRIAN ON THE BOULEVARD – A DRUG ADDICT MALE PROSTITUTE
Just one camera, no lights and shooting on the fly, ‘Brian On The Boulevard’ captures the story of a heroin addict and male prostitute on the streets of Los Angeles. Brian offers a no holds barred and painfully honest account of his life. He discusses his family’s rejection, the loss of his brother, the possibility of contracting AIDS, and the thin line between death from addiction and redemption through rehab.

The List Of Government Agencies That Can Get Your Data Under CISPA

(SOURCE: TechDirt)

One of the key complaints about CISPA is the fact that it does absolutely nothing to make sure any data of yours that is shared with the government by third parties is sent narrowly to folks working to protect us from cybersecurity threats. Instead, the information can be shared with any agency of the government, so long as they can claim, vaguely, that it's being used for "cybersecurity purposes." But, as the EFF points out, without any limitations on whoin the government can see your data, every government agency can see your data. They've even put together a helpful "list."
One question we sometimes get is: Under CISPA, which government agencies can receive this data? For example, could the FBI, NSA, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement receive data if CISPA were to pass?

The answer is yes. Any government agency could receive data from companies if this were to pass, meaning identifiable data could be flowing to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the National Security Agency, or even the Food and Drug Administration.
We've reposted the list below as well, just so you can get an idea of which government agencies could get access to your data on CISPA (and which ones thought that, perhaps, that's not such a good idea).
